Winter Cooking with Kids

Even a toddler can learn to put one toy back in place before he gets the next one from the shelf; there will be no problem if the shelves are at toddler height. This is a first step to learn how to be tidy when cooking.

Cooking is a delightful way to introduce your children in the world of domestic chores. Kids can start helping at home since they are young, however, cooking they develop their personal tastes besides problem solving, mathematical and reading skills.

Cooking with you and their siblings, children learn about sharing, teamwork and following instructions while having fun time. They discover the art of tackling a step at a time following a recipe, self-mastery and patience when they wait for that cake to bake in the oven. Kids make their artistic and technical skills flourish when garnishing or decorating a dish, preparing the right amount of icing.

Your children become aware that even the simplest jobs must be done properly. Their confidence grows, as they can enjoy the results of their effort soon enough; and their self-esteem will soar when mom and dad try the dish and say, “this is yummy.”

That’s why we have chosen three very simple recipes you can easily prepare with your kids -pumpkin and leek soup, curried parcels and carrot truffles- and double as a family dinner. The crisp winter days, when everything invites you to stay indoors, are a great time to start your kids cooking.
